Restouri
Privacy Policy
What we collect, why we collect it, and what you can do about it.
Last updated 28 July 2026
What we collect
- Your email address, only if you create an account. We use it to sign you in and to know which saved places and reviews are yours. It is tied to your identity, because that is the point of it.
- A display name you choose. It appears on any review you write.
- Your location, only when you switch it on. See below.
- What you do here — the restaurants you view, search for, favourite, review, or get from "Pick fi mi". We use it to order results and tune your recommendations.
If you browse without an account, we count you with a random identifier in a cookie named restouri_anon. It is a number for tallying, not a person, and it is not joined to a name or an email.
What we don't do
We do not track you across other companies' apps or websites. We do not sell your data. There is no advertising SDK anywhere in Restouri.
Location
Restouri asks for your location only when you tap to turn it on, and uses it in the moment — to sort restaurants by distance and show what is near you. The coordinates are rounded to about 110 metres and kept in a cookie on your own device for 30 minutes. They travel with a search so we can sort the list, but we do not store them on our servers against your account.
The whole app works with location switched off. You just sort by something other than distance.
How signing in works
There are no passwords. You give us an email address and we send a 6-digit code to it. We store that code only as a hash, and it expires after ten minutes.
- Passkeys, if your device offers them. Your device keeps the private key. We only ever receive a public credential — never your fingerprint or your face.
- Google sign-in, where that button is shown. Google confirms your email address to us. We store the email address; we never see your Google password.
A signed-in session is an opaque token that lasts 30 days. Signing out revokes it immediately, on that device and at our end.
Who else is involved
- Google Maps Platform. Most restaurant listings, ratings and photos in our catalogue come from Google Places. Where a rating is labelled "Google", it is Google's rating and its reviewers' work, not ours.
- Amazon Web Services. Simple Email Service delivers your sign-in codes. S3 stores the restaurant photos.
- imagefoundry.io. Resizes and delivers those photos to your screen.
- The restaurants themselves. See below.
When you use the cart
The cart builds a list of dishes and hands it to WhatsApp or to your phone's dialler, addressed to the restaurant. Restouri does not take the order and never handles payment. From the moment that message or call leaves, what you send is between you and the restaurant, under their terms and whatever WhatsApp's terms say about carrying it.
What you can do
- Use Restouri without an account. Browsing, searching, menus and "Pick fi mi" all work signed out, and saved places are kept on your device.
- Clear your history. Account → Clear my history wipes the views, searches and rolls behind your "For you" picks. Saved places and reviews stay.
- Delete your account. Account → Delete account, in the app or on this website. It removes your profile, saved places, reviews and history. It happens immediately and there is no undo.
